A new study commissioned by product management training company Product Focus and conducted in the United Kingdom reveals that Wi-Fi is quite simply ‘the best invention of the past 25 years’. Some 2,000 adult residents of the U.K. were asked during the survey. The smartphone came in second.
Ever wonder what invention has impacted peoples lives the most in the course of the past 25 years? If you guessed ‘the Internet’ – then you would be close. The answer – at least among adults in the United Kingdom – is Wi-Fi, says the product management training company, Product Focus.
All of 48% of respondents chose Wi-Fi as the most impactful invention, while 41% chose the smartphone. Interestingly, online banking came in third. It is tempting to conclude that Wi-Fi has become practically synonymous with the World Wide Web itself even though of course technically Wi-Fi is simply the radio access technology we use to connect to it (most of the time).
