SPTS wins fifth consecutive RoSPA Gold Award for occupational health & safety

SPTS Technologies Ltd of Newport, Wales, UK (an Orbotech company that manufactures etch, PVD and CVD wafer processing solutions for the MEMS, advanced packaging, LED, high-speed RF on GaAs, and power management device markets) has won a Gold Award in the Royal Society of Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards for the fifth consecutive year (presented at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on 13 July).

Winning a RoSPA award “demonstrates an organization’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record,” says Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events.

“We pride ourselves on the level of continuous improvement throughout our organization and being able to provide a safe and stimulating work environment for our employees,” says Kevin Crofton, corporate VP at Orbotech and president of SPTS Technologies. “It takes commitment and support of all the staff to maintain this high standard of health and safety practices in the work place.”

RoSPA is a safety charity that recognizes companies that have demonstrated a commitment to occupational safety and health for their employees. It is open to businesses and organizations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas. A majority of the awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. The RoSPA Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running program of its kind in the UK, now in its 61st year. Competitive awards go to the best entries in 24 industry sectors including construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, engineering, manufacturing and education. There are specialist awards for occupational health, environmental management and fleet safety.
