Designed for extreme conditions, SteadiShield and OcTrain also perform well in demanding telecom and industrial markets
Woking, UK, 23 May, 2019 – TT Electronics, a global provider of engineered electronics for performance critical applications, today announced two new products for rail and military vehicles, as well as the telecommunication and industrial markets. The SteadiShield™ connector and the OcTrain™ 10Gb Ethernet contact can be utilised in braking systems, trackside and signalling cables, drivers’ cabin equipment, and communications equipment.
SteadiShield is a reverse bayonet connector ideal for designs requiring one connector with multiple ethernet screens. A metalised insert provides instant screen termination within a common ground for improved reliability. This connector has significant power distribution capabilities and offers 360° screening with no additional components required. Five multi-pole contact styles are available: coax, twinax, triax, quadrax, and 10Gb ethernet (OcTrain).
Designed for full compatibility with TT’s range of established ABMP connectors, OcTrain meets ultra-high speed connection requirements to aid heavy data consumption in harsh environments. This contact is suitable for 22 and 24AWG wire, CAT 6A and CAT 7 cable, and a range of cable jackets from 4mm to 8.1mm.
These new connection possibilities offer quick disconnect, 500 mated cycles (minimum), RoHS and EN45545-2 compliance. SteadiShield is sealed to IP67; OcTrain can be compatibly sealed to the same standard within the connector. Both are easy to install and can be further developed to meet end user requirements such as interchangeable contacts, cable assembled versions and customised design capabilities.
“TT’s comprehensive experience within the connectors industry has resulted in innovative products like SteadiShield and OcTrain – solutions that perform brilliantly in harsh environments and make a significant impact on today’s rail and military vehicle designs,” said Leigh Chapman, Product Manager, TT Electronics. “Implementing these same products in telecom and industrial applications ensures that in even the most extreme conditions, data integrity is maintained from one contact to the next.”
