Japanese chip startup CerebrEX secures investment from INCJ & Fortune VC

The investment. which was done through a third-party allocation of shares, will enable development of technology and business needed for the next-generation semiconductor products. CerebrEX is a fabless semiconductor startup founded in 2012 which designs, develops, manufactures and sells IP blocks and display controllers for high-definition and power-hungry mid-sized flat panel displays. UMC Capital manages evergreen structure funds and focuses on investment activities in the US, China and Taiwan. It is the investment arm of global semiconductor foundry UMC which is dual-listed on the  New York Stock Exchange (NYSE ) and Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE). INCJ was established in July 2009 as a public-private partnership that provides financial, technological and management support for next-generation businesses. Japan is an important market and competitor for U.S. semiconductor companies and is the third largest electronics manufacturing industry in the world. It is home to two of the top 10 semiconductor buying companies, Sony and Toshiba.
