Advantech Wireless has received follow up orders from military customers for the firm’s X-band line GaN- based Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) and Block Up Converters (BUCs).
This latest generation of X-band GaN based SSPAs/BUCs from Advantech Wireless are said to feature high linearity and operating efficiency, suiting them to Satcom on the Move (SOTM) and man-pack terminal deployments.
Cristi Damian, VP of business development at Advantech Wireless stated that to-date the company has received orders for more than 300 units, with the high linearity combined with small size, and low energy consumption appreciated by customers.
The GaN X-band line of SSPAs is versatile, with small form factor units for mobile applications, to medium power for maritime, and very high power for large teleports. According to the company, several models are either already WGS certified, or in process of certification.
GaN-based Troposcatter communication solution
Advantech Wireless has also announced that it is presenting advanced solutions designed for the military market at the largest defence and security event in Latin America, LAAD 2017, in Rio de Janeiro this week.
These include a Troposcatter communication solution using GaN based solid state power amplifiers. “This advanced solution achieves rates of up to 54 Mbps in the 4.4 to 5GHz frequency is attracting attention due to the low maintenance cost, the impossibility of being traced and the inviolability of the transmitted data,”said Carlos Xavier, general director, Advantech Wireless do Brasil.
Advantech Wireless is presenting details of its new line of GaN based SSPAs for Satellite and Tropospheric scatter (Troposcatter) Communications, along with its Military Grade VSAT Hubs with WaveSwitch ‘on-the-fly’ SATCOM Waveform Switching Technology for its ASAT II Multiservice VSAT System.
