- ACS712 current sensor is a transducer type component that is used for converting a magnetic signal into an electrical signal.
- These sensors measure and calculate the amount of current applied to the conductor with not affecting the performance of the system.
- Ohm’s law is applied for measuring the voltage drop when flowing current is detected.
- ACS712 is used to convert the current input into a voltage output, this sensor is operate on both AC and DC.
- It produces analog voltage to the sensor and the analog voltage output is proportional to the measured current.
- ACS712 current sensor is also called as Hall effect sensor.
Working of ACS712 Current Sensor
- A current sensor is used to detect the current which flows through the onboard current sensor circuit in its IC.
- A current sensor detects the incoming current through its magnetic field generation.
- At one point the current is detected then the current sensor generates a voltage that is proportional to the magnetic field, then these will be used to measure the amount of current.
Pin IC of ACS712
- This IC has a 2.1kV RMS voltage isolation along with a low resistance current conductor and the above pin diagram described all pins, the supply voltage is required 5V.
Application of ACS712 Current Sensor
- It is used in many industrial, commercial, and communication applications. This IC is applicable for Automobile applications.
- The applications of this IC can be found in motor control circuits, for load detection and management, SMPS, over current fault protection circuits.
