MACOM Technology Solutions Inc of Lowell, MA, USA (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for analog RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and photonic applications) has launched the MAAL-011141-DIE wideband low-noise amplifier (LNA). Operating from DC to 28GHz, the new device is suitable for next-generation test & measurement systems that require higher-performance wideband components offering ease of use and smaller footprints to allow for smaller modular solutions that accelerate time to market, says MACOM.
The MAAL-011141-DIE offers low noise figure across the full frequency range, enabling signal integrity for wideband applications such as test & measurement and mission-critical aerospace and defense. Requiring positive voltage only, the MAAL-011141-DIE eliminates the need for a negative voltage supply, allowing for fewer components and supply rails (simplifying the design burden for customers). In addition, the low-noise amplifier has a variable bias voltage, offering greater versatility to tradeoff between linearity and power consumption. The input and the output are fully matched to 50Ω with a typical return loss >15dB. The LNA is claimed to achieve a lower noise figure compared with alternative options, particularly at lower frequency ranges.
“The combination of flat gain, low noise-figure performance and fully matched operation makes this device ideal for demanding test & measurement applications,” product manager Paul Beasly. “The positive bias supply and variable bias voltage make the device highly versatile for many other applications,” he adds.
The MAAL-011141-DIE will also be released in a 5mm QFN package and is part of a new family of next-generation wideband amplifiers.
