- The LM709 series is a monolithic operational amplifier that is intended for general-purpose use. The operation of these devices is completely specified over the voltage range commonly used for them. In addition to providing high gain, the design minimizes offset voltage and bias currents. Furthermore, the class-B output stage provides a high output capacity while consuming little power.
- External components are used to compensate for the amplifier’s frequency. Even though the specified unity-gain compensation network will make the amplifier unconditionally stable in all feedback configurations, compensation can be tailored to optimize high-frequency performance for any gain setting.
- The LM709C is the LM709’s commercial-industrial counterpart. It is identical to the LM709 except that it is rated for temperatures ranging from 0 to 70 degrees Celsius.
- Now, the first question that would pop up in our head is, what is a monolithic operational amplifier? Then let’s see what it is.
- Monolithic Operational Amplifier Works from ±4.75V to ±70V and Features Rail-to-Rail Output Swing and Low Input Bias Current.
- Although monolithic operational amplifiers have been around since the 1960s, their performance continues to improve.
- With the recent energy-saving trend, an increasing number of sets are being driven at low voltages. Op amps must also operate at low voltages, but if VCC falls below 5V, a single supply op-amp can only input 1.5V less than VCC, which is inconvenient. A Rail-to-Rail op amp, on the other hand, can continue to operate normally even when the input voltage swings from VEE to VCC.
- Because it can input/output across the entire supply voltage range (VEE to VCC), it is commonly referred to as an input/output full swing op-amp.
